Wow! San Diego Comic Con was amazing this year! All four days were sold out and the con was constantly packed. So much to see, so much to do, so much to buy. As usual, I didn’t get nearly enough time away from my booth to see everything, but I did see a lot and, even better, met a bunch of great people.
I shared a booth with a couple’a talented bastards you might have heard of (and if you haven’t, now you have, so you’ve got no excuse for not checking them out). Big Bob Renzas and his Animal Qwackers were there, keepin’ it as real as a bunch of funny animals can. Next to him was Tom Bryski with awesome sketches from his new graphic adaptation of the classic Greek story of Theseus. And all the way down on the other end of the table was the lovely and talented (and occasionally super hairy… but in a good way) Melita Curphy aka: Miss Monster! POW! What a line up! We had a rawkin’ time.

My old pal Corey Barba was there showing off his fancy drawing chops. His new book “Yam” was just published by Top Shelf and it’s a fantastic colorful little thing dripping with child-like wonder. Get your hands on one quick before they’re all gone, you won’t be sorry.

Andy Kuhn was there too, at the Image booth, with new copies of his ongoing series Firebreather. This thing rocks out loud. If you like monsters and “Invincible” you owe it to yourself to check this thing out. There’s a graphic novel collecting the first mini-series out now from Image so it’s nice and easy to pick up.

Oh, and I learned a little secret. When Art Balthazar drinks, he turns into… an even nicer guy! I didn’t think it was possible, but it’s true. Kisses all round!

I got to meet the creator of PVP Scott Kurtz (the man with the cleanest hands in all of internet comicdom, and maybe the cleanest hands in comics in general. This dude’s hands are CLEAN!) and tell him how much I like the Web Comics Weekly podcast he and Dave Kellett, Brad Guigar and Kris Straub do every week. The other guys were also there at the Half Pixel booth but, sadly, I didn’t get a chance to track ‘em down.

As for me, my little “Garlic Ghost” was a hit; people really seemed to respond to him and his widely spaced eyes. His bookmarks and prints flew off the table. It was awesome. I’ll be posting images from the book “the Amazing Haunted World of Garlic and Viniker” as I create them so stop back from time to time to check on how that’s coming.
Here’s the Garlic print I was selling. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you think.

Heck, while I’m at it, I’ll show you the bookmark and the pin too.
