The Demon and his cage - Jason Blood!
Do yourself a favor and read the original Jack Kirby issues of the Demon. They’re criz-azy, in that awesome way only Kirby comics are. Plus, you can really see the roots of Hellboy in there. So that’s cool.
This pathetic, mucous laden creature was supposed to be in the sea monster section of my latest sketchbook but he got shuffled away beneath some errant papers and forgotten. Until yesterday. So I thought I’d give him his moment in the sun, whether he deserves it or not. Here is the entry from Cap’n Orlop “Ox-eye” Bollard’s famous maritime cook/adventure book “Encountered!”:
The “Horrible Snuffling Lungtail” has very few friends and it’s life is filled with misery and woe. On the plus side, since it’s meat is tender and wonderfully tasty, they are usually hunted down and slaughtered at an early age, so they don’t suffer very long.
